This site is a protest to the methods used by the DSA to control the number of motorcycles on the road through licensing. We feel that the younger generation should be given the chance to ride Motorcycles. Some people regard the motorcycle as a dirty smelly vehicle that causes a great deal of noise pollution.

It's a fact that modern motorcycles produce less Carbon emissions than all similarly powered four wheeled vehicles. Even the largest capacity 'bike' is cleaner to operate than a similar car with a lower capacity engine. Due to the inherent prejudice of the road fund licensing system the motorcycle will always lose out. The few cars that are road fund exempt still produce more Carbon diOxide than 98.69% of motorcycles -but the motorcycle is not road fund exempt.

The ride on the 11th of July is to try to explain to the DSA that the relocation of local motorcycle driving test centres will cause a great cost to the community. The current situation will cause unemployment if we cannot reverse the decision over the relocations. In rural areas the relocation of the local test centre to a remote MPTC (Multi Purpose Test Centre) will cause reduction in the numbers of "Motorcycle Training Schools", who would not be able to justify to their students the doubling in lesson charges: they would have to take the student for up to twice the time per lesson to cover the new first module prior to the rider being let anywhere near the road if they are riding anything larger than a bike of 125cc's. After the module 1 training the rider would have to travel to the test centre along unknown roads -there are currently only three MPTC's in the whole of Wales at the moment -Bangor in north Wales, and Newport and Swansea in the south. A rider living in north Wales outside the 45 minute travelling time area could go to England for their test. This would be in Shrewsbury or Liverpool. The trip to Liverpool would be reasonable if the rider were from Wrexham but any further into Snowdonia and the rider would find difficulties. Riders from mid and west Wales are faced with around two hours of riding on unknown, dangerous roads in heavy traffic before they reach their new test centre...
